ABOUT US
The Park Hotel is part of Matthews Hospitality, a South Australian family-owned hotel group with a long history of bringing people together through great hospitality. With our new cabin park, we are looking for an experienced, organised, hands-on Cleaning Supervisor to lead our cleaning team and maintain consistently high standards across our accommodation and hotel facilities. From a guest’s first impression to the comfort of their stay, your work and leadership will make a difference.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role combines hands-on cleaning with team leadership, daily coordination and quality control. You will work alongside the team, lead by example, and take ownership of cleaning standards, presentation, and accommodation readiness.

Working closely with hotel management, you will organise workloads, support and develop team members, and ensure every space is cleaned thoroughly and ready when required.

Previous experience managing a team and overseeing accommodation cleaning and housekeeping operations is essential.

Shifts generally run from approximately 9 am to 3 pm, Monday to Saturday, with your regular days and hours discussed during recruitment. We can accommodate school hours, but flexibility is required, as busy periods and operational demands may mean longer days.

The position is available on a casual or part-time basis, with applicable award rates and penalties. All Matthews Hospitality employees can enjoy meal discounts at all of our hotels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead by example, working alongside the team and actively participating in cleaning duties.
  • Earn the team’s respect through fairness, consistency, clear communication and follow-through.
  • Set clear expectations for cleaning quality, productivity, presentation and safe work practices.
  • Train, support and motivate team members to perform their roles confidently and consistently.
  • Check understanding and adapt your communication and training approach to support a multicultural team.
  • Provide constructive feedback, address performance concerns promptly and work with management when further support is required.
  • Hold team members accountable and ensure standards are upheld, including during busy periods.
  • Plan and allocate daily cleaning tasks around guest arrivals, departures, occupancy and hotel requirements.
  • Assist management with rostering to ensure appropriate coverage for expected workloads.
  • Monitor progress throughout the day and adjust priorities as circumstances change.
  • Communicate clearly with management and relevant hotel teams about accommodation readiness, delays and outstanding work.
  • Assist with developing and improving cleaning procedures, checklists and practical training instructions.
  • Oversee and carry out cleaning across cabins, accommodation, hotel facilities, bathrooms and shared spaces.
Inspect completed work and ensure any missed tasks or presentation issues are addressed before guests arrive.
  • Check that linen, amenities and guest supplies are clean, presented correctly and replenished.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to cleaning-related guest requests or concerns.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cleaning routines and the overall guest experience.
  • Monitor supplies and equipment, and communicate stock and replacement needs to management.
  • Ensure the team uses Flexkeeping correctly and consistently to allocate, track and monitor cleaning.
  • Keep cleaning progress, accommodation status and outstanding tasks accurate and up to date.
  • Ensure maintenance requirements are recorded clearly, reported promptly and followed up with the relevant team.
  • Ensure lost property, missing or suspected stolen items, damage and broken property are recorded and reported in line with hotel procedures.
  • Maintain safe chemical handling, storage and equipment use.
  • Identify and promptly report hazards, faulty equipment, and maintenance concerns.

ABOUT YOU
You are an experienced supervisor who understands that strong cleaning standards depend on clear expectations, effective training and consistent follow-through.

You can earn respect, keep a team motivated and address issues directly and respectfully. You are equally comfortable checking work, coaching a team member or picking up the equipment and getting the job done yourself.

You will bring:

  • Essential previous experience managing a team and overseeing accommodation cleaning or housekeeping operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, motivate and hold a team accountable for quality and performance.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural and language backgrounds.
  • Strong attention to detail and a clear understanding of guest expectations.
  • Sound organisation and time management, including the ability to allocate work and assist with rostering.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing occupancy, workloads and operational priorities.
  • Confidence using digital systems and ensuring accurate reporting; Flexkeeping experience would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of safe cleaning methods, chemical handling and workplace safety.
  • Ability to safely undertake active roles involving standing, bending, lifting, making beds, and repetitive cleaning tasks.
  • Reliability, initiative and a practical approach to solving problems.
