Maintenance & Handyperson Casual or Part-Time | Park Hotel, Mount Gambier Making others feel good, feels great! The Park Hotel is expanding with new accommodation cabins, and we are looking for a practical, reliable Maintenance & Handyperson to help keep our accommodation, hotel, and grounds operating at their best. This role may be ideal for a semi-retired tradesperson or an experienced handyperson looking for flexible work with plenty of variety, physical activity, and time outdoors. THE JOB Working alongside our hotel and accommodation teams, you will assist with: - General handyperson duties, repairs and minor maintenance
- Logging and actioning issues using the 'Mitti - Safety Culture' App for all maintenance requests and job tracking
- Maintaining our new accommodation cabins
- Supporting the team with accommodation services and property upkeep
- Groundskeeping, gardening and outdoor maintenance
- Moving furniture, equipment, stock and supplies
- Identifying and reporting maintenance or safety concerns
- Coordinating with tradespeople and contractors when required
- Completing preventative maintenance tasks
- Maintaining tools, equipment and work areas safely
- Providing support to the guest services team with laundry
- Supporting other areas of the hotel as required
Work hours will be mostly weekday mornings and may vary depending on bookings and hotel trade; we anticipate 15 to 20 hours per week initially. Additional hours may be available depending on your interests, skills and the needs of the hotel. Such as opportunities to learn and take on additional responsibilities, such as beer-line cleaning, keg-room maintenance and other practical hotel duties. ABOUT YOU You may be a semi-retired tradesperson, experienced handyperson or practical all-rounder who enjoys keeping busy and seeing the results of your work. You will ideally: - Be confident completing general handyperson and maintenance duties
- Have practical repair, maintenance, gardening or trade-related skills
- Enjoy variety, physical work and spending time outdoors
- Be reliable, organised and able to work independently
- Take initiative and notice jobs that need attention
- Take pride in keeping the property safe, functional and well presented
- Work safely and communicate well with team members, guests and contractors
- Be willing to learn new skills and assist across different areas of the hotel
- Hold a current driver’s licence and have reliable transport
- This is a physically active role. Applicants must be able to safely meet its inherent requirements, including regular walking, standing, bending, climbing, working outdoors and lifting or moving heavy furniture, equipment, stock and supplies.
Previous experience in a trade, maintenance, accommodation, gardening or a similar hands-on role will be highly regarded.
