The Mount Gambier Hotel is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Venue Manager to join our leadership team and help deliver an exceptional hospitality experience in one of the region’s most iconic venues.

Recently revitalised, the Mount Gambier Hotel combines premium dining, vibrant culture, modern gaming facilities, and quality accommodation under one roof. Known for its welcoming atmosphere, elevated food and beverage offerings, and strong connection to the local community, the hotel has become a destination for both locals and visitors to the Limestone Coast.

Working closely with the Venue Manager, you will play a key role in leading service standards, supporting operational performance, and developing a strong team culture across all areas of the business.

About the Role

As Assistant Venue Manager, you will support the Venue Manager in the day-to-day leadership of the hotel, ensuring operational excellence, strong financial performance, and an outstanding guest experience.

You will lead by example on the floor, mentor team members, and help drive a culture of professional hospitality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Venue Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the hotel
  • Lead service delivery across the hotels operations
  • Maintain high standards of customer experience, presentation, and service
  • Assist with budget management, financial performance, and sales targets
  • Ensure compliance with liquor licensing, gaming regulations, and WHS requirements
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance development of team members
  • Assist in planning and delivering events, promotions, and community initiatives
  • Handle guest feedback professionally and resolve issues with confidence
  • Contribute to a positive workplace culture and strong team engagement

About You

You are a confident hospitality leader who understands the importance of delivering both high-quality service and strong operational performance.

You will bring:

  • Previous experience in a hospitality leadership role (Duty Manager, Food and Beverage Manager or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of food & beverage service and hotel operations
  • Experience working in fast-paced, multi-department venues
  • Excellent leadership and team development skills
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving ability
  • Knowledge of liquor licensing, gaming regulations, and WHS compliance
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and guest experience
