Matthews Hospitality Group is seeking a reliable, hands-on Maintenance/Handy Person to support the daily upkeep, presentation, and operational readiness of our hotels across north and east Adelaide.

This role is suited to someone practical and organised, who understands hospitality operations and can complete maintenance works efficiently outside of service periods to minimise disruption to teams and guests.

About the Role

Working under management's direction, you will carry out general maintenance and presentation-related tasks across multiple venues to ensure they are safe, compliant, and ready for daily trade. This role will report to our Group Projects and Maintenance Manager and work closely with Venue Managers at each hotel.

• Windmill Hotel, Prospect 5082 

Availability required for 4 weekdays, with early-morning starts (approx. 7am) to prepare the venues for the day. Public holidays and weekends are required for emergency call-outs only.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and handy-person duties as directed.
• Complete tasks early in the day to avoid impacting peak service periods
• Support venue readiness and presentation across all hotels, including plants, gardens, rubbish, and cleaning. 
• Use the company maintenance system to log, track, and close tasks
• Maintain front- and back-of-house presentation standards
• Prepare venues for holidays, events, and seasonal trade (including decorations and set-ups)
• Identify maintenance issues and escalate where required
• Work efficiently with consideration to time, cost, and operational impact
• Follow WHS requirements and safe work practices at all times

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in a maintenance or handyman role (hospitality or multi-site experience highly regarded)
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow directions
• Excellent time management and reliability, including early starts
• Practical, solutions-focused approach
• Trade qualification or building licence preferred, but not essential
• Gardening, landscaping preferred, not essential. 
• Understanding of live hospitality environments and operational priorities
• Current driver’s licence and ability to travel between venues
• Own power tools preferred, or supplied ad hoc.
