The Sussex Hotel in Walkerville has reopened following a major renovation, and we are building a strong leadership team to support this exciting new chapter.

We are seeking a Casual Duty Manager with strong gaming experience to help lead our gaming operations while supporting the wider venue team. This role offers 20–30 hours per week on a rotating 7-day roster, including evenings and weekends.

About the Role

As Duty Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring our gaming room operates smoothly, responsibly, and in line with SA gaming regulations, while supporting the broader venue operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising and supporting the gaming room and gaming attendants
  • Delivering exceptional service to gaming patrons
  • Ensuring compliance with gaming, liquor and venue procedures
  • Managing cash handling, payouts and gaming machine operations
  • Supporting the team across bar, bistro and floor operations when required
  • Maintaining a safe, professional and welcoming environment for guests and staff

About You

You are a confident hospitality professional who understands the importance of customer relationships, compliance and leadership on shift.

You will bring:

• Previous gaming experience (essential)
  • Experience supervising or leading shifts in hospitality
  • Strong knowledge of SA gaming and liquor compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm and organised during busy periods
  • A friendly, professional approach to guest service

Essential Requirements

• Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
  • Responsible Person Badge (RP Badge) or willingness to obtain
  • Basic and Advanced Gaming Certificates
  • Availability to work nights and weekends

Desirable:

• TAB experience
  • Previous Duty Manager experience
