The Mount Gambier Hotel is on the lookout for an enthusiastic and experienced Breakfast Chef to join our busy kitchen team. We are proud to support local – from fresh regional produce to craft beers and wines, our menu champions the best of the Limestone Coast.

This is a casual position requiring early morning starts and availability across Monday to Sunday. If you’re passionate about food, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and love starting the day with a smile – we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Prepare and cook breakfast dishes to a high standard, consistently meeting food quality and presentation guidelines

• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team and report directly to the Head Chef

• Oversee and manage multiple kitchen operations during breakfast service

• Maintain high levels of food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene by safety regulations

• Support kitchen efficiency by working across all sections as required

• Monitor food costs, portion control, and manage stock rotation

• Create memorable experiences for our guests through quality, consistency, and speed of service

What We’re Looking For

• Trade-qualified Chef (Certificate III in Commercial Cookery preferred)

• Open to experienced Cooks and 2nd/3rd year Apprentices

• Proven ability to work autonomously and in a team environment

• Strong attention to detail with excellent time management skills

• Positive attitude and ability to stay calm under pressure

• Sound understanding of food trends, allergens, dietary requirements, and breakfast service standards

• Previous experience training or mentoring junior kitchen staff is a bonus
